How can i curl my hair so that it looks good for formal?

my semi formal is this week and i think im going to get my haircut before. right now i have long platinum blonde hair. its about 6 inches below my shoulder and cut in layers but i think im going to get sideswept bangs. i want to curl my hair for semi. should i leave the bangs straight? or would that look weird? and whats the best way to curl ur hair to make it really curly? thanks so much :)

but u should keep ur bangs straight and curl ur hair into either tight spirals(which i am probably doing) or loose big waves. it depends on ur style and taste so which ever one u think is better u should do :)

i suggest you got to a salon school, they'll curl your hair really good for cheap. Ask for barrel curls if you want really curly hair. make sure your hair isn't freshly washed before you go, it will hold the curl longer.

personally, I think it would look best if you left your bangs straight... if you choose to get them. And also, the way I normally curl my hair when I have a formal is by using a 1 or 1-1/2 inch curling iron, take sections of your hair and spray them with your hairspray, then leave the barrel CLOSED on the curling iron and wrap your hair around the closed barrel. Hold for 5-10 seconds or however long it takes for a curl to hold in your hair and unwind carefully from the barrel. then once your whole head is done, you can flip your hair over and spray the entire thing for maximum hold. this always works like a charm for me, and the next day, you can even comb your curls out for "beachy waves."
