Ok so i have layered shoulder length hair ... i would like to get my hair kinda fancy (but not too promish) .. for a formal event... usually i style my hair very ... plain jane-ish ... i need cute and modern ideas... pics would be very appreciated... gracias!

you could go with a french twist with whisps left out to frame your face. you could have it all curled and arranged in flowing loose curls. You could have your stylist put a design in using basket weave... thats always cool.

Something very easy to do is a half-updo with the front parts of your hair pinned back. i'm not sure if you have bangs or not, but this will work fine even if you don't :)
simply comb your hair back to get rid of your center part (or whatever it usually is). then take a small section in the middle, lift it up, and either:
tease under it a little to get some volume
or if you don't want to tease your hair (i never do! lol), then just pin that middle section back with a pretty hair clip. leave the rest of your hair down, and you're done! if you want to get a little more fancy you can curl the part you pinned back and the hair that's down. use a little bit of hairspray, or if you don't like hairspray, use some shine spray to make your hair nice and shiny! good luck! :)
